Human Rights Impact Assessments
Yahoo! has publicly committed to conducting human rights impact assessments, which include: exploring risks to freedom of expression and privacy in challenging markets; engaging with internal and external U.S. and international stakeholders; and designing risk mitigation strategies.
Yahoo! Human Rights Fund
In partnership with the Laogai Research Foundation, Yahoo! created a Human Rights Fund to provide humanitarian and legal support to political dissidents who have been imprisoned for expressing their views online, as well as assistance for their families.
Academic Fellowships
Yahoo! has established international fellowships at Stanford University and Georgetown University to advance the work of journalists and scholars exploring the complex issues at the intersection of technology, free expression, privacy and global values.
Yahoo! Business & Human Rights Summit
On May 5, 2009, the BHRP hosted Yahoo!’s first-ever stakeholder learning forum about how technology, the Internet and social media facilitate free expression around the world, and about innovative approaches to addressing government challenges to free expression.

Yahoo! created the Business & Human Rights Program to coordinate and lead our efforts to protect and promote free expression and privacy.
